TAMWORTH WRAP

May 23, 2009

Well, another Tamworth has come and gone. I must say, this was one of the real good ones. As Scud mentioned, the Longyard Function Room was chock a block full and to see the group together as one was nothing short of brilliant, no such thing as a number of groups, just one big huge happy family… It is truly a great thing to see that this club has become more than a club, it is a bunch of very good friends from all over the Eastern States and I congratulate everyone on this.

Our chosen Charity was in attendance and they had a ball. The volunteers from Blue Angels have told me that they had one of the best nights…ever and are totally astounded by the friendliness and warmth and generosity shown by the Blue Liners to them. They loved us so much, I have been asked to be part of their Debating Team in an upcoming charity event in Tamworth, obviously they were very impressed with my usual prowess at public speaking….

We have done the tally up, and Swampy, Richard, Smally and I  will be attending Tamworth this coming Friday to make the presentation of around $3,000 to the Blue Angels volunteers.

Once again, I must thank all those people who helped make the 18th Blue Liners Tamworth Charity ride the huge success it was. I haven’t seen that many people in the Function Room since the biggest BL Tamworth ride back in the late 90′s, we had around 200 attend the function, it is once again growing thanks to the hard work of our co-ordinators and committee, in particular Harley (The Ox), Hunty, Addo and of course John (Swampy), Richard and Gary.

I must thank our supporters, the Longyard who donate the function room, staff and setting up every year, Bike Biz who every year come to the fore and donate thousands of dollars in prizes for the raffles, the Marshall McMahon Hotel at Wallabadah who put on a great lunch for us on the Saturday and also donate prizes for the raffles and Superintendent Pheeney and of course the Tamworth Police, who make our passage safe and provide escorts for the group into town. This year we had a Police Motorcycle escort from Wallabadah through the best roads of the whole trip past Chaffey Dam and Dungowan to meet up with Harleys mob at Nemingha, this ride will now become a permanent fixture of the ride in from Wallabadah to Tamworth. A huge thanks to Glen, our HWP Cyclist escort.

All in all, another huge success and a huge thank you to everyone who came along and made it another Tamworth to remember.

DON’T FORGET TO PUT THE BLUE LINERS TUMUT RIDE ON YOUR CALENDAR ON THE 12TH AND 13TH SEPTEMBER, THIS WILL BE HUGER…

Best regards and stay safe until the next one
