REKINDLE OUR AUSSIE RACING SPIRIT (ROARS)

You bloody beauty, it’s on again.

It’s only a couple of weeks until we do the very propular ROARS Ride to Bathurst.

Along the way we will be doing a walking tour of the historic Catalina Raceway at Katoomba (unfortunately, this track is very quickly deteriorating and will not be around for much longer) then I will take you on a tour of the Old Vale Circuit at Bathurst where Harry Hinton and some of his very brave compadres used to race around a country road circuit which was only half closed (open to oncoming traffic). This circuit was the predecessor to Mount Panorama which will be our next visit before we finish the day off with a visit to the Mount Panorama Racing Museum.

Meeting point on Saturday morning will be at Maccas, M4 Westbound, part of the Twin Caltex Service Centres, leaving at 9.30am.

Dinner is at the Kelso Hotel.

This was one of the highlights of our 2008 calendar, if you missed it, make sure you don’t miss out on this one as it is a beauty. For those that came, you remember what a great time was had and can look forward to having another great trip.

Remember…..Be there or be square..

WALL TO WALL POLICE REMEMBRANCE RIDE

June 5, 2010

WALL TO WALL
www.walltowallride.com
Inaugural
NATIONAL POLICE REMEMBRANCE RIDE
18th September 2010

Leaving Domain Sydney, under Police Escort to Goulburn Police Academy then mass ride into Canberra and the National Police Wall of Remembrance.

G’day all,

The inaugural Police Remembrance Ride, known as the Wall to Wall Ride will be on the weekend of 18th and 19th September, 2010. As Blue Liners, you are all welcome to attend to show our respects to the fallen officers of the Police throughout Australia.

The specific ride departure and route details will be forthcoming as soon as they are set in concrete but as it is Floriade in the ACT over that weekend, accommodation is extremely tight and even moreso, extremely expensive ($500 p/n for the Rydges at corporate rates). As a result, I have arranged a special deal with our usual Anzac Ride accommodation at the Statesman Hotel/Motel. They have all facilities in house as well as secure parking for your bikes, meals and refreshments.

You must book in early though, busses book the place out very very quickly and accommodation is already filling up.

Statesman Motel phone number is 02 6281 1777, make sure you mention you are with the Blue Liners or the Wall to Wall ride.

To register, go to the Wall to Wall site or click on the link on the right hand side of our home page and you can register and pay through the site direct, Whilst we are on the organising committee, Blue Liners will not be collecting registrations for this ride.

Please show our respect to those that have made the supreme sacrifice and let your friends know that they are welcome to attend (ride is not restricted to Police only). Be aware though (I know that members of our club are not affected by this and this does not affect our club patch or badge), as this is a National Police sanctioned ride, no club back patches with rockers (Club Colours) or offensive slogans on vests or jackets are permitted and may result in anyone wearing same to be asked to remove it or leave the ride…

Book your accommodation now as it will fill fast and it is the only place in Canberra that is reasonably priced…..

Best regards
Ray Robinson
President

WEDNESDAY 2/6/10 KIAMA RIDE – CANCELLED

May 31, 2010

WEDNESDAY 2/6/2010 COFFEE RIDE TO KIAMA CANCELLED.
Dear fellow Blue Liners,

Unfortunately the Sydney South coffee ride planned for this Wednesday 2 June 2010 from Loftus to Kiama is cancelled. The proposed route through the Royal National Park, Grand Pacific Drive and Sea Cliffe Bridge has received bucket loads of rain and been subject to very high winds. The forecast for the rest of the week is for continuing heavy showers and already a number of trees have fallen over along the route. I drove along most of the route today in the tin top and it was slippery to say the least…..

With much disappointment (alright – you can call me a fair weather cyclist!!) I believe that the risks to our BL members are unacceptably high at this time to ride along these roads and I would hate to see any of you slide along the road, or God forbid, damage your motor bikes.

Next ride is on Wednesday 30 June 2010, 9am start from Maccas at Heathcote to Kangaroo Valley.

Jumping Overnighter to Warwick

May 30, 2010

Ladieeeeeeeeees and Gentlemens of the Northern Environs of NSW and Southern Environs of Qld and anyone else who mighty be interested.

I am presenting to you a ride for the 17/18 July 2010 AD.

The Ride will be an overnighter to Warwick for the Jumpers and Jazz Festival conducted during that week. http://jumpersandjazz.com

We will be staying at that Ghost ridden heritage hotel, O’Mahonys – where they serve the finest Guiness in the Land, well that’s what it tastes like after about 20 or so. And the other beer and girly drinks is good to.

Now for anyone interested we will have to get in early with our bookings if we want a place to sleep because the place gets pretty well packed out on that weekend. I have spoken to Joan at the Hotel and she informs me that they have a fantastic jazz band playing on the Saturday night, additionally other bands will be playing around Warwick over the Weekend for anyone who is interested. And the trees will be dressed in jumpers if you want to see something you have never seen before.

At this point in time, the prices will be the same as last time, from memory I think it was $30.00 per single and $50 per double but I am going to work on her to bring that down a bit. (can’t promise anything, but will try for an all inclusive price) Meals are all available at the hotel and evening meal is around the $20 price mark. A good cooked breakfast is available for $10.00

There is a lot going on that weekend for anyone who is interested. Where we will be staying is opposite the old Railway Station and on Sunday a couple of steam trains with carriages will arrive. Now I appreciate that some of you younger blokes may not know what a steam train is, but for us older folk, it used to be the only way to get from point A to B just slightly slower than a snail. Aaaand, as I found out in my short term of employment with NSW Railways, do not stop at crossings at 3.00 a.m. in the morning where the gates are still closed because some dumb 15 year old went to sleep and forgot to close them. Thankfully no one was hurt so I can laugh about it

The train will be then leaving Warwick and going up to Clifton and then back to Warwick I have yet to receive details if you can take refreshments or not, but will await the agenda of the ride. In other words I don’t know what time it is but for anyone interested it should be a good time. It’s not that far to Clifton but by Steam train probably two 6 packs over and a two six packs back.

Anyhow, if could I get some rough estimate of how many would like to go it would be appreciated, and I will convey that to Joan.

I will get back to you later with her Telephone No for bookings.

There is secure parking for the bikes,

Regards

TAMWORTH IS UPON US

May 3, 2010

It is just under 2 weeks until the 2010 Tamworth Charity Ride.

For those that have been visiting another planet and missed the dates, they are the 15th and 16th of May.

For the various ride details from around NSW and Queensland, click on the tab that relates to the area you will be coming from on the above tabs, e.g. Clarence/Coffs or Tweed/Gold Coast. For those leaving Sydney and the Central Coast, click on the National Tab.

Just a reminder though, those leaving from Sydney will be meeting at McGraths Hill Maccas and we will be riding up the Putty Road (for a welcome change to the boring old Freeway) and linking up with the Central Coast Mob at Maccas at Muswellbrook.

This will be another great Tamworth ‘specialty’ so get ready to have a bundle of fun and a million laughs.

This ride is open to everyone, not only members, so if you want to bring a couple of hundred friends along, they are more than welcome.

For registration details, click on the tab on the top blue bar, all the info you need is there.

See you in a couple of weeks.

Best regards
Robbo

WHAT ABOUT A SIDE CAR?

April 8, 2010

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to ride an outfit or are you from the dim dark past of the countries finest that used to scoot the Sergeant around the traps in one. Maybe you are a closet side car nut. Maybe you just want to put the missus in the boat and see her about 5 feet off the ground screaming (in delight, of course)…
Well, you might just get that opportunity on a Blue Liners fun filled weekend away and at the same time get some expert tutoring on the safe way to ride an outfit and have that trial ride in a brilliant new Ural outfit in the safety of a closed circuit in the New England region of NSW.
I have made tentative arrangements for our members to get a very special deal including accomodation at the Ural importers farm.
If you are interested, please give me a yell by email at rob1ray@bigpond.net.au and I will make some concrete arrangements for some Blue Liners courses and trials in the second part of this year.
Unfortunately, the positions are very limited, around six riders on each course, so it is definitely only available to our members.
C’mon, stop dreaming and start living, I know there are some secret ‘outfit’ admirers out there….

Best regards
Robbo
